Social Media Marketing World 2015 (#SMMW15) was an awesome conference and a definite highlight of 2015.
The bookstall had titles that I am sure were carefully handpicked by the Social Media Examiner team. If you are a marketer in this digital age, these books are a must-read.
Why should you read books?
We all know that book are a great way to get in depth knowledge on any subject, but there are other advantages to a book like knowing the perspective of the author, getting information about other useful resources, getting an analytical view of the topics, etc. Even research says that reading improves brain connectivity and function.
Specially in a field like social media, where every 3rd person you meet seems to be an expert, books are a good way of filtering out good authors from bad ones. Writing a meaningful 1000 word blog post is a challenge for some, so when you pick up a book in your hand (and when a publisher has invested their brand into that book) then you know that the author is a specialist. Having said that there are instances when you find many not-so-good material published & promoted, but that number is negligible. And one more good filter is to pick up books that are showcased in industries leading summits & conferences like SMMW. That is why this list can be useful. When Social media examiner chooses to display these books on their stand it sure adds credibility to the content and the author.
